Pre-PA Interns Needed

"Medicine at Home" is my small but thriving house calls practice in Montgomery and PG Co’s here in Maryland. Medicine at Home provides direct primary care for the elderly home bound and assisted living patient. I see patients 3-4 days a week with admin work daily.

I am seeking a candidate who is either ideally but not required having a CNA/MA certification to meet with me regularly weekly for medical office admin work such as but not limited to:  learn to upload and enter into patient flowcharts X-rays, ekgs, labs; while learning the basics in interpreting lab results, etc.,  I will train how to obtain medical biometrics such as accurate vitals while we go out on calls, a limited amount of medical documentation and scribing.  The candidate will have exposure to a wide variety of medical conditions and disease states along with pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments and plans of care for these disease states.  Depending how much they are interested in participating; I can expose them to a great amount of geriatric/internal medicine, medical practice management, coding and billing - PA’s in medical practice ownership (the business side) etc.

The candidate should possess a special interest in a kind of non-traditional; unconventional approach to serving our “in the shadows” community, home-bound patient populations -  have an interest in community/public health, geriatrics, medical practice/business ownership/entrepreneurship.  This is not a "medical office job" and is not for everyone. But for the right candidates, it will be extremely educational and will prepare them well for PA/medical school.

Volunteer Scribe Position- Integrative Medical Practice

Capital Integrative Health is seeking attentive and driven premedical students who wish to experience and learn more about Integrative & Holistic medicine as a volunteer medical scribe. Our practitioners started Capital Integrative Health out of a deep desire to deliver better medicine. Many of us left traditional medical settings to find a more fulfilling way to practice- one that focused on health, instead of illness. Within our different backgrounds, we are driven by the shared experience that healing is a group effort that thrives on open minds and open hearts. We are looking for premedical students that wish to experience this kind of medicine in a non-traditional way. As a student, you will train to become a volunteer scribe with our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, physical therapists, and acupuncturists that will work together with the patients to help them in holistic and integrative healthcare.

Medical Office Position - Additional Position Available Starting October 2019

My name is Edward A. Tsoy, M. D., and I have a private Ophthalmology practice near Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, MD. In recent years, I have employed a number of seniors and recent college graduates (including many from the University of Maryland) during their gap years so they could gain some "real world" clinical experience. At the end of this notice is a copy of an ad that I run for a paid medical assistant/receptionist position in my office. Training for the position includes one-on-one tutoring in ophthalmic science and an opportunity to obtain certification in the American Academy of Ophthalmology Ophthalmic Medical Assisting Course. Seven previous employees have been accepted to medical schools and one went on to nursing school and is now a nurse practitioner. I have enjoyed working with these students, so I am posting another listing with the Health Professions Advising Office about the availability of this position. I am especially interested in someone who could start full time next month and then continue for at least a year, but I would consider a part time applicant depending on their availability. If you are interested, please contact me at to submit your resume and describe your specific plans and availability. Thank you.
